The new intranet application uses the Plone CMS and its advanced collaboration features.
Intranet IM, IP
The Portuguese Meteorological Institute (Instituto de Meteorologia (IM)) recently launched a new intranet application, implemented by Eurotux, using the Plone CMS. This intranet will be the primary collaboration and information sharing tool for the Institute's workers.
In addition to Plone's basic content management the application features several add-on packages focused on collaboration:
- Institutional and individual contact management (address book).
- Shared calendars.
- News publication.
- Workspaces for organizational units, with document, image and file sharing.
This project also includes specific additional weather-related features which Eurotux created for IM, making use of Plone's high extensibility capabilities:
- Sharing documents with custom classification schema.
- Animated charts with data from meteorologic stations.
- Animated presentation of satellite images, radar images and maritime charts.
- Display information about weather forecasts and earthquake alerts.
