For the latest local elections in Portugal, internet users that looked for results on the online portals of the Expresso, Visão (a leading weekly newspaper and magazine, respectively) and SIC Notícias (a round-the-clock Portuguese news channel), found those results in a graphic interface created by Eurotux. This widget used a design provided by the client, the Impresa group, presenting, on the one hand, the result of the nationwide vote, featuring results for Lisbon and Porto, and on the other hand, detailed results, for each municipality and parish.

The application was used simultaneously on all three websites, also made available for mobile devices, providing real time updates for vote results, without reloading the webpage, resorting to an external database. At the same time, polling results were exhibited, placed directly by the team.

As well as the widget’s development process during which it was subjected to testing by the Ministry of Internal Administration, Eurotux provided a support team for the day and night of the elections. The availability of Eurotux’ web development team was vital on a crucial night, during which no performance problems occurred on any of the websites, having carried out some last-minute changes that were introduced with no impact for viewers.

The widget earned positive reviews from internet users as well as the client, a noteworthy factor, considering, it was Eurotux’ first foray into creating an application of this kind. This application’s base may be used for other elections in the future, as well as in other contexts and issues that benefit from this style of graphic presentation.
