The Superior School of Nursing of Porto improves storage and is preparing migration to Nuxis
In the second quarter of the current year, in partnership with IBM, Eurotux provided the IBM V3700 at a discount price. This sophisticated storage system, presents a solution that is easy to use and efficient, including an innovative graphic user-interface, with a great quality/price ratio. In addition to this bargain, Eurotux is planning to launch more equally competitive and enticing campaigns for this storage solution within this year.
The ESEP took advantage of the opportunity and acquired one these systems. The result? A storage with increased cache, support for ISCSI protocol, thin provisioning and a connection speed of 8Gbps, representing a huge improvement over the 2Gbps for the previous storage. In practical terms, this investment by the ESEP, will provide for quicker access and reduced interconnection costs.
This storage will host the school’s IT system, essential for its operation, and benefiting from, as well as the improvement in hardware, the future implementation of Nuxis. This free software, boasts the latest virtualization technology features, enabling management of virtual and physical machines, storage, among others, allowing for greater functional agility of the ESEP’s IT systems.
Eurotux has collaborated with the ESEP since 2008, with a support and maintenance contract that has been active since 2009. As an active partner involved in the provision of IT solutions, the company took part in the redesign of the servers system through the installation of a BladeCenter system, also produced by IBM. Given the needs of the institution, acquiring a new storage system was a logical step en route to improving the ESEP’s IT systems.
The acquisition of the new storage solution at a lower cost was only possible due to Eurotux’ privileged relationship with its partners, leaders in their respective fields, of which the reduced price regarding the IBM V3700 is a fine example.
