New food drive for the Portuguese Food Bank received Eurotux’s support
Eurotux’s workers have once again shown their solidarity by donated food goods to the Food Bank Against Hunger. The drive took place in the same way as in the previous year, with Eurotux doubling the amount of food goods collected and making a financial donation for every hour of volunteer work put in by each worker. In total, over 400 items were donated, weighing more than 200 kg of food goods, being delivered by workers to the Food Bank during the food drive that occurred on the last weekend of May.
Daniela Costa, Director of Quality Assurance at Eurotux, said that “it is the second year that the company and its workers take part in actively contributing to empowering this idea. The interest and availability demonstrated by everyone was essential for the success of this initiative and we are pleasure to see that we managed to increase the amount of food donated, in comparison with last year. Eurotux’s social responsibility initiatives, which aren’t limited to this one, aim to contribute to the welfare of the community our company belongs to.
In total, the Food Banks Against Hunger, collected 2081 tons of food goods during the campaign conducted in the regions of Abrantes, Algarve, Aveiro, Beja, Braga, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Cova da Beira, Évora, Leiria-Fátima, Lisbon, Oeste, Portalegre, Porto, Santarém, Setúbal, S. Miguel, Viana do Castelo, Viseu, Terceira and Madeira. The gathered food goods will be distributed to 2257 social Solidarity Institutions, that will then deliver them to 375 thousand persons with evident nutritional needs, in bundles or prepared as cooked meals.
