Open Source is being increasingly used in business markets
Eurotux began at a university, an institution whose greatest asset is knowledge and that purports to share it. The company inherited this philosophy having from the very beginning, promoted state-of-art solutions based on open source software. The market has responded positively, and as well as the opportunities that company identifies with its clients, what was once a reticent interest has now become an active demand for this type of solution.
Open source solutions are an unavoidable reality. Most heterogeneous projects include, in large part or in totality, open source solutions. Globally, technology giants are making profound investments in solutions that include open source; namely Google (Android) and Microsoft (Azure). Companies such as IBM, Cisco, VmWare, HP, among others, founded the Core Infrastructure Initiative, a million dollar project, directed at financing open source projects.
As well as the benefits in quality, robustness and security, the growing need for more rigorous cost control makes licensed software an increasingly difficult burden to bear while open source solutions arise as the way forward.
Internally, Eurotux uses the same solutions it implements on its clients. Examples of this are the Icing and Nagios monitoring systems, the Nuxis virtualization system, as well as Linux operating systems, etc.
