Power Ecosystem 2016: a success to be repeated
The first edition of Power Ecosystem was heled on May 17, 2016, at the National Press Museum in Porto, Portugal. The event was organized by Eurotux, IBM, and Arrow, and was attended by over 75 information technology (IT) professionals, CIO, directors, and administrators, among other top managers from several organizations.
During the event, participants had the chance to learn about the latest IBM technology in the fields of servers and storage. Likewise, solutions based on this technology, was presented, targeting different IT infrastructure strategies, from a simple architecture, such as a stand-alone server that addresses all of an organization’s computational needs, to more complex ones, spanning to include several servers, executing different operating systems (AIX, IBM I, and Linux), integrated in IT infrastructures with heterogeneous solutions.
The sessions that covered the technological scope, were of particular interest to participants, as well as the session that surveyed architectures of reference and success cases, namely, the Flex2000, FUCHS, MoreTextile, and UQ Consult.
The event ended with a Cocktail & Networking. The participants were given a guided tour of the National Press Museum, were they had the opportunity to view some relics of the graphic industry and the renowned Porto Cartoon exposition, while enjoying a cocktail and sharing their experiences.
Photos from the event can be viewed online. They will be available, only briefly, on Eurotux’s Facebook, so we advise you to follow us if you use this social network.
Given the market interest in this event, an awaited second edition will be directed towards more participants and with more in depth contents, namely, in Linux on Power technology, and interoperability with servers based on other technology.
