Eurotux is mentioned in Brussels for creating integration between oVirt and Bareos
Eurotux has developed a plugin for the Bareos backup solution in the framework of an internal R&D project.
The plugin was published on GitHub of the Bareos backup platform, and allows the full backup of oVirt and VMWare virtual machines from Bareos.
According to Eurotux’s Senior System Administrator, Carlos Rodrigues, “this plugin arose from the need to integrate our backup system with the oVirt virtualization system”.
Before the existence of this plugin, there was no solution that integrated oVirt and Bareos and hence the motivation to start this R&D project.
The Bareos development team kept the plugin under review and testing and later incorporated it in Bareos version 19.2. This was presented at the FOSDEM 2020 open-source software developers conference held in Brussels, where Eurotux’s work was mentioned to the pride of the project team and the whole company.
Every year Eurotux invests in Research and Development (R&D) projects with the objective of deepening knowledge and creating new solutions with added value for the market.
For this reason, in 2019 the National Innovation Agency granted Eurotux the status of a suitable company for Research and Development (RDI) in the fields of telecommunications, infrastructure and ICT for open access to knowledge.
This allows Eurotux’s clients, who subcontract services in this area, to have access to tax benefits within the scope of SIFIDE (Sistema de Incentivos Fiscais à I&D Empresarial).
What are the advantages of open source software?
