Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric project Portal – made by Eurotux
The Mphanda Nkuwa hydroelectric project portal, developed by Eurotux and its subsidiaries ITMZ and Dipcode, is now available, showcasing a significant energy infrastructure in Mozambique.
Mphanda Nkuwa is the largest hydroelectric project currently under development in the country, boasting a 1,500 MW capacity and is estimated to have the lowest cost of energy production in Mozambique and the region. With an estimated investment of $4.5 billion, the project involves the construction of a 61 km downstream plant on the Zambezi River, starting from Cahora Bassa. Funding for the project is provided by the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), which, on June 5, held a meeting in Maputo with the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project Implementation Office to discuss project structuring and financing.
The Mphanda Nkuwa hydroelectric project is part of the Electricity Infrastructure Master Plan 2018-2043 as a least-cost option and the regional Generation Infrastructure Master Plan as a SAPP Pool Plan 2017 priority project.
The project portal, accessible at https://gmnk.co.mz/, provides comprehensive information about the initiative. The development and maintenance of this portal is the responsibility of Dipcode, and ITMZ is responsible for its local management, providing the technical hosting services necessary for its proper functioning.
