End of Standard Service for IBM Power9 systems set for January 2026
IBM Power9 systems have been available for more than 8 years, and IBM has announced the end of the Standard service for a number of systems in this range, namely (*), on 31 January 2026.
With the end of the Standard service, IBM will no longer provide preventive service and will not develop new updates, patches or machine code fixes (including security fixes). To facilitate the transition from current systems to the latest IBM Power10 offerings, IBM has an upgrade programme available.
Upgrading to Power10 delivers industry-leading performance, availability and security, with 100 per cent encryption of data at rest and in motion; on-chip AI acceleration for selected AI inferences; and the latest technology solutions to improve operational efficiency. In addition, IBM and Eurotux can provide a seamless migration, while continuing to provide hardware maintenance support services for your systems.
Any remaining prepaid value of your current maintenance contract can be applied to the purchase of the new systems.
You can find out more about your upgrade options by contacting Eurotux.
Eurotux is an IBM Gold partner and has extensive experience with this IBM technology, as evidenced by the awards Eurotux has received from the American multinational.
