Unicol maintains commitment to Eurotux for optimizing its IT infrastructure
Unicol – Union of Cooperative Dairy Farmers from Terceira Island, the largest cooperative organization of the Azores Islands, active since 1946, maintains its trust in Eurotux, within the scope of managing its information technology (IT) infrastructure.
In yet another phase of this mutually beneficial collaboration, Eurotux has installed a technological infrastructure that replaced the current Production environment, for a new environment using an IBM Power System core, Power 8 technology, and a Storwize V5010, that can be shared with INTEL equipment, as well as a Tape Drive Library, TS3100, with two drives, and capable of creating IBM I (AS/400) environments in several virtual machines, created within the scope of the project’s planned interventions.
The current Production machine will be installed on another location of Terceira Island, where Unicol’s headquarter is located, assuming the function of Disaster Recovery, significantly increasing the IT system’s availability. The project includes migration of all current services to the new infrastructure, the creation of Production and Test partitions, preparations for eventual Linux partitions, operational tests, among other tasks.
With the help of Eurotux, Unicol continues its path to improving the performance, availability, and security of its infrastructure, with gains in terms of cost reduction, greater efficiency, and more productivity. Future interventions are already planned, namely with the goal of strengthening the planning, integration, and organization of the company’s IT solutions, and improving the response to unforeseen situations.
