Full house for Session on GDPR organized by Eurotux
About a hundred participants, from several sectors of activity, sold out the space reserved for the second briefing session on GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation, organized by Eurotux, held on February 22nd at the Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa, in Porto, Portugal. The theme is currently on the agenda, since the new Law comes into effect on May 25th.
The briefing session was hosted by Ricardo Oliveira, Consulting Services Director at Eurotux, and covered the fundamental principles of GDPR, as well as its implications for the Information Technology structure for companies and organization. Services and solutions that may help guarantee compliance with the GDPR, were also presented.
The GDPR is a much sought after issue at this time, with the legislation’s initial date looming. The legislation seeks to homogenize the European Union’s procedures, in terms of protecting the personal data of citizens. A study release this year by Microsoft, concluded that only 2.5% of Portuguese business decision makers consider that they are prepared to comply with GDPR. This fact helps us understand the interest for these two events that were organized by Eurotux regarding the new Regulation.
The session on January 30th had already recorded a full house, which filled once again with professionals from several sectors of activity, interested in learning more about the GDPR. Fields such as health, telecommunications, banking, insurance, customer service, and citizen services, require special care in complying with the GDPR, since these entities process sensitive data. The hefty fines that may ascend to 20 million euros, or 4% of the company’s annual revenue, apply to all entities that do not comply with the GDPR.
If your organization/company is among those who are not yet prepared for the GDPR, don’t wait any longer and get in touch with Eurotux. We can help you on the path to compliance with the new law.
