Eurotux strengthens its infrastructure with new Data Center
Eurotux has reinforced its infrastructure with a second external Data Center, which is also interconnected with the Braga facilities Data Center.
The two Data Centers and the operational headquarters are thus interconnected, in a redundant typology, reinforcing the resilience of the services available to the clients.
The Eurotux Datacenter Ring
The infrastructure management service can be done in our own Data Center, client’s or cloud, and therefore we rely on state-of-the-art technology and security measures to ensure maximum uptime.
In addition to its Data Center in Braga, Eurotux already had a space at the Equinix Data Center in Lisbon since August 2005, with high availability and security, in a highly connected location.
The new space at NOS Data Center, also located in Lisbon, is used in the redundant typology, to ensure that nothing is lost if one of the Data Centers becomes unavailable.
What is a Data Center?
Data Center is a building or part of a building that is designed and built for hosting computer systems of a company or organization.
These types of buildings gather components such as servers, data processing and storage equipment, and active network systems, which form the IT infrastructure that can be considered the “nervous system” of an organization.
Because they keep all kinds of important information needed to run a business or organization, the Data Centers are built with features that ensure the security and availability of the data stored within them.
What is redundancy?
Redundancy, when applied to IT, means the duplication of critical components in order to increase the security and availability of the systems.
The data stored in the Data Center are duplicated, through backups, and also clusters of computers and components are created, which perform the same functions at the same time and can be used in case of failure of the primary components, allowing the data to be available.
Nowadays the demands of the market have become more stringent, and require special features and greater performance of data centers.
For this reason, the main data center is covered with a secondary one in Lisbon and one in Braga.
According to the Director of Operations and Support Fernando Gomes, “an open source (open vswitch) was used to connect the three data centers, having failover on VPN, in case of problems with the dedicated link”.
Therefore, Eurotux continues to expand its business in a sustained, secure and transparent manner, in order to guarantee the best infrastructure and high quality services to its clients.
