Eurotux to implement CI/CD project in UK
Seizing the notable experience in projects of this kind and the multidisciplinary skills of the DevOps team, Eurotux was chosen to implement one more CI/CD pipeline, this time for a London based client.
Prior to the pandemic the Administration visited the client in London, consolidating the efforts in the location, several technical and strategic arguments were put forward to underpin Eurotux’s strong interest.
As in previous projects, the team will integrate several technologies with an important focus on automation that will help the customer to have greater quality, control and agility in production inputs. The inclusion of various types of tests will also allow the reduction of risk at the inputs into production, aligning the requirements of the infrastructure with stress tests, also maintaining the expected performance.
What is a CI/CD pipeline?
The organizations that aspire a higher control, smaller time-to-market and better quality of softtware delivery have been choosing to implement CI/CD pipelines associated with the DevOps philosophy.
- Continuous Integration (CI): programmers create new features or change existing ones, which are automatically tested as often as desired.
- Continuous Delivery (CD): as a result of the successful execution of test sets (unit, security, etc.), the code is submitted to the repository and ready to be put into production. The objective of this phase is to ensure that there is always validated code ready to go into production.
- Continuous Deployment (CD): consists in putting into production the new version of the application, properly framed with infrastructure parameters, in an automatic and controlled way.
What are the advantages of having a CI/CD pipeline?
With all the process being automated (including the tests), the changes made by the developers can be put into production quicker, in many situations, several times a day. This reduces risk by publishing small segments of code instead of large changes, and making production entries with less disruption in terms of the overall functionality of the application.
The achievement of this project demonstrates again the trust, transparency and reliability that Eurotux has delivered to its clients, during these 20 years, in Portugal and abroad.
